Mass of 1 marble = 2.5g
Mass of diamond needed = 53g
Length of original spring = 12cm
Steps:
Step 1: Place 10 marbles(10 x 2.5g= 25g) inside bag and attach to spring.
Step 2: Measure extension, y cm , of spring (Total length minus original length of spring).
Step 3: Using proportion, find the extension that corresponds to actual diamond
25g → y cm
53g → (y/25 x 53) cm
Step 4: Replace the marbles with the raw diamond (plasticine)
Step 5: Remove small bits of plasticine until the extension matches the extension made by 53g
